27 more days till launch. 20 days till I meet a world racer. 1 week till my sister is married and 3 days left of work. As my weeks, days, and hours wind down to the very last minutes left in Spokane, I start to realize this HUGE step I am making. This dream is becoming a reality.
It was such a blessing to add up all the money I have been graciously and generously given throughout this past year. I could not have done it without the endless prayers and support from family and friends. A BIG THANK YOU!
Here is a little update about what I have been doing and how my life has been. Its been a while since I wrote.
I have been working full-time at a small business called Sculptured Gardens. They have shown me what a healthy business should look like and how employers should care for employees and customers. Coming from working at McDonalds, this was truly a blessing for me to have. My manager is the funniest person who could make me laugh and any customer that walks through the door. My coworkers were always been welcoming and this place felt like home. I have 3 more days left which is sad but such a blessing. Now I can spend time with family and friends for the last few weeks.
Another update is that I have moved out. I am now living with the most amazing Christian family right on liberty lake. They always have the best food made when I come home from work and truly care about me as a person. This has been such a healthy thing for me because of some things that have happened with my family. I have loved every moment of this time here with them.
As far as packing goes, I am almost there! I have most of my gear. Things like my backpack and my tent. As far as clothes go—thanks to Chloe for letting me raid your closet when I come to stay with you. Yes, this is the racer I will be meeting ;). And thank you to all those who have donated gear for me to enjoy. Thank you to Laurel for the tent, sleeping bag, and much more. Thank you to Judy for the sleeping bag liner, the Bible, and all your advice. Thank you to David and Evelyn for the amazing gift of the hammock. And thank you to my wonderful parents for all the advice on what I should and shouldn’t bring, the raincoat and for all the research about solar charging things.
For fundraising, I am almost there as well! People have been so generous and I can’t thank you all enough. There have been so many of you, too many to count! Thank you to those who attended my ‘support me’ party. Thank you to all my family that has given so generously. Thank you to my friends who have supported me in ways that I can’t thank enough. I have only a couple of thousand dollars to go which is so easy. With all the work I have put in since March at my job, I will be able to cover the rest!
The only things left that I must do is get my yellow fever shot and practice packing my bags! These are easy compared to what it was at the beginning. I am grateful for all those who helped me get to the point that I am at now.
The next blog will be one of the hardest to write. It will be my goodbyes. Sadly, yes, I do have to say them and I am not ready to do that but I will have to. God has my back. He is watching over me. He is caring for me with every step I take. I can trust him.
